The Big Bloggy Moving Day!

Today is the big day! Over at After A Cup of Coffee...Or Two (and co-hosted at Sorta Crunchy)there is a welcome to my new home, open house of sorts, going on! Many folks, have started a new blog, redesigned, or picked up and moved their bloggy location. Today is the day for the big reveal! Head on over and check out the new and exciting pages!

I have been here almost a month now, but still have work to do!
I have been searching the web for the best tips, tricks, and blogging etiquette. Though I have found some wonderful sites that have guided me through the first month, I am sure there is much more to be learned.

Therefore, I'm going to the best source. YOU! I am asking that you help me, and all like me, become successful bloggers. Please leave a comment telling me me your top tips, tricks, or must know blogging information! I want to soak it all in, so be honest, creative and inspiring. To show my appreciation, I will be giving away a $10 Target gift card to one lucky, tip sharing, comment posting person! I will use a random number generator to pick a winner! The drawing will be held on my one month bloggy anniversary so be sure to leave an email address so I can contact you if you are the winner!

The Details . . .
  • One entry per day - yep, you can stop by again tomorrow, enter a new tip, and be entered again!
  • You must leave a tip, trick, or other "honest, creative and inspiring" kind of information in each comment for it to be a valid entry.
  • Please leave me a way to contact you! Thus, leave an email in your post. It may be best to use the "name(at)somewhere(dot)com" format to avoid spammers.
  • Because I am wanting tips about having a blog, you do have to have a blog to enter.
  • Random number drawing will be held on February 22, 2008, around 6 pm.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you all! Thanks for stopping by, participating and sharing your knowledge! :)

  3. Love your blog! And like Danielle commented, I would just share with you to continue being yourself by letting this page be a reflection of you and your interests, which you've already done so nicely in your 'About Me' section.

  4. Nice blog! My tip would be, like the others said, to be totally yourself. And also if you want "strangers" to come by and revisit, make sure you post about other things besides just "what we've been up to". But then again, those could be very interesting too, if written in clever ways.

  5. I read an article recently on writing a good blog post. The author made the point that a reader will decide within the first few sentences whether or not they will read the entire post. Good advice to remember.

I will also second (or third) some of the other commenters advice...be yourself. Don't get caught up in trying to imitate another bloggers look or style. Let us see who YOU are.

    Above all, have fun!

  6. I second the idea of reading Michelle at Scribbit's blogging advice. She really helped me find my focus. I guess my main tip would be if you want to have readers, spend time thinking about how you can engage them. Also, commenting on people's blogs is a great way to get others to check you out.

Give it time. It's a process.

I love flip-flops, too! Thanks for playing in our Big Bloggy Move!

  7. So glad you joined us for the move! I was going to say "be yourself" but instead, I will say get involved! Comment on other people's blogs and join groups that interest you (I do Wordless Wednesdays). The relationships you can form are really encouraging.

  8. Overall, I think the most important thing is to not force it. Write about what you want to write about. Be who you are. There are many people out there who will appreciate it.

If you want to develop an audience, commenting on other blogs is probably the way to go.

  11. Be regular. NO, not like that! I mean just post on a regular basis and sometimes 1 or 2 sentences are just perfect.

  12. Not to sound repetitive, but post about the things you find interesting. You should blog for yourself first. Since you are blogging online, you obviously want others to read it, but your most interesting posts will be about things you are really interested in.

  13. Great post - this is helpful to me too since I just recently started blogging.

As a reader - I always love blogs that include photos.

And Marta @ martawrites.blogspot.com wrote a nice answer to a reader question once... For some reason I couldn't find it today...but I'll keep looking.

  14. Another tip I have is to comment frequently on other blogs...not just on every blog (although you can if you have the time), but several blogs that you really enjoy and comment frequently on them. They will probably start visiting your blog and other people that read their blog may visit you as well.

  15. It's me again with another tip! Put pictures in your posts. It does not have to be every post, but it helps keep attention if there is a nice picture. You can get free stock photos from the internet or buy some.

  16. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions! Feel free to continue to post comments, however the contest is now closed!

    :-)
