Weekend Flair - #5: Handmade Cards!

I started making cards several years ago after realizing how much stuff I had 'leftover' after making a scrapbook page. I couldn't rationalize throwing away bits of paper that were perfectly good. Thus, my love for card making emerged. Every now and then, I sit down and put together a few cards. Generally, I use scraps and leftovers. However I do have a good collection of rubber and acrylic stamps to complement everything else. Additionally, having a Cricut allows me to cut out shapes, or phrases from my paper scraps!

I have included a few of my recent creations below. Unfortunately, because they are from random papers, I won't be able to give you a list of supplies, but feel free to ask questions about them!

Do you make cards? What are your favorite supplies?

Other than paper scraps, what other things have you repurposed for crafts?

Be sure to check out all my crafts and other editions of Weekend Flair!

  1. Cute cards! I love that "thank You" font you used. I use scraps of paper to make cards all the time, along with my Cricut and stamps.

  4. I have gone back and forth on cards. It takes me so long to get one that I like that I often get frustrated. But, I have recently started trying to make cards again. I really enjoy using stamps and watermark ink.

  8. These cards are cute!

I make cards . . . but mostly because I'm too cheap to buy them at the store ;-)

  9. wow these cards are beautiful!!
I also like to make cards. I usually paint something, or used anything around me to make a collage -- dry leaves and branches and grass, things like that.

  10. I'm very intimidated by card making for some reason. When I scrapbook, I can base what I'm doing off of a photo. A card is such a blank canvas, I don't even know where to begin. I also never know what to do about envelopes - do you buy a certain size envelope and make cards to fit in them, or buy cards and envelopes and decorate them, or what?
