{one little word 2011} Week 13

{simple}

Being ill the last week and trying to recover and catch up this week, there were not too to choose from. However, when I began thinking about writing my One Little Word Challenge post for this week, the above photo is definitely not the one I thought I would be using.

I have a couple really great photos of Dakota and Jaffery playing out in the snow, at that perfect time in the afternoon where the lighting is perfect. I was planning to use one of those, not the picture of my 1/2 dirty clean kitchen. While this photo is much better than if I would have taken it about 24 hours prior, it is still not where I thought I would be nearing the end of March.

I thought I would be well on my way, moving toward my perfect {simple} life. Dishes caught up, laundry done, junk drawers cleaned out, in addition to spending more time enjoying the {simple} things... yeah... one can dream.

I guess I'm a dreamer. I recently told my supervisor at work (while discussing some big project/office/campus changes I would love to see, but know better to think it will happen in my lifetime) that I tend to "dream big". He said "It's better to aim at the moon and miss than to aim at a skunk and connect". Love it... and I suppose he is right. It is just really hard to keep motivated when I feel like I am  "behind schedule".

Over the last week, I have given myself permission to reflect, sleep, play, watch TV, do nothing. It has been nice. I feel so much better this week than I did before I was sick! I feel rested. I'm looking forward to this weekend. I have a lot on my to do list, however am excited and motivated!

  1. You're not behind schedule. You're right on time and exactly where you need to be. :)

  3. It's nice to be able to give ourselves permission to do whatever is necessary to regroup and rejuvenate. A feeling of being refreshed and ready to move forward.

  4. Sounds like a week of resting was just what you needed to get your mind back on track. Once the mind is back on track the actions can follow right? Love the skunk quote, must remember that one!

  5. I understand! I have been really sick and behind lately too. It's not fun, but sometimes can't be helped.
