{One Little Word} Blog Hop April

Xnomads' Blog
Welcome to the {One Little Word} Blog Hop! All blog hop posts go live at 8am Pacific Time April 1st.
Jaffery and Dakota
My word for 2011 is {simple}. Life this year has been everything but {simple}. With that said, I am listening, watching, and learning. I strive to take the steps needed to simplify anything I can.
In my February Reflection, I concluded I need to do three things:

1) Find areas of my life that could be {simple} and work to make them {simple}

2) Look for {simple} things that inspire me.

3) To allow myself to get caught up in the moment, not worry about my long to do list, but just enjoy the {simple} things.

Easier said than done, of course, however one step at a time.

March has flown by. Between work, being sick and just a busy life, sadly I do not remember many specifics of the month. I did however, intentionally keep track on many of the simple things I noticed or did each day (in brown Sharpie). The notes in color are the 4 goals I set out at the beginning of the month.

The blank days bother the perfectionist in me, however I am trying to move on :)

I'm also needing to finish up that last large blank square. I'm hoping to reflect a bit more on it this weekend.

I am both excited for April and ready for it to be over. I have TONS of work projects, activities and trainings to plan and participate in. I am not sure how to organize it all AND keep my life as simple as possible. I'll keep notes and let you know!

You can keep up with my One Little Word project on Facebook at Forever Daisies on Facebook!

I am also participating in the One Little Word Captured Challenge at Life... As I See It. If you are interested, my posts are here:

  2. Love your word! And good for you not letting the perfectionist side of you win :)

  3. I like your sleeve protector scrapbook page with your goals in writing, designs, and color. I am a visual learner so that works well for me, too.
When you mention the procrastination, I read somewhere to think of the finished result and it would be easier to start and complete the task or as Nike says, "Just do it." I know - - -easier said than done.
One of the best books I have read on organization and Simplifying is "Simplify Your Life: Get Organzied and Stay That Way" by Marcia Ramsland. I am our church's library director so I have read quite a few books. Check that title out sometime. You will probably like it.

  4. Love your journey with "simple" this month. Looks like you succeeded in finding it more than you failed, so don't worry about those blank spots!

  5. I've been stopping to photograph flowers, too. It's been a wonderful way to notice the beauty in everyday.

Best of luck finding simplicity this month. Sounds like it's going to be a busy month.

  6. I love the "Stop and photograph the flowers" :) I know what you mean about the blank days on the calendar and I'm also learning to let go of my perfectionism.

  7. You don't have that many blank days - I think in the grand scheme of things, that is worthy of celebration, not self-criticism : )

  9. Thanks for sending people along to my story. Your blog is looking quite happy too! In fun facts, we love daisies too as my daughter is sort of a daisy as Marguerite is a daisy in French!
