Wacky Web Wednesday

"DUI test Perfect Score"
"What if the cop knows you are drunk but you can pass every test given?"

This is an amazingly funny video! For the original post on Google Video, click here.

It's Interesting. . .

I LOVE the 29th of each month as it is kind of our "date night" My husband and I were married on May 29, and now we celebrate each month. We don't always do much, but we make a point to spend time together! Sometimes we go biking, or skating, or watch a movie, but tonight, we splurged a little and went to Old Country Buffet (or OCB as my husband calls it) It was a nice break from the norm. I hesitated going out, as it was a blistering -10 without wind, but I didn't want to cook either :)

While pondering over the dessert, I decided on ice cream and cherry pie. However, after sitting down, and picking out the cherries, I began thinking it would have been a lot easier to just take the crust off the pie, leaving the cherries on the buffet! Maybe no one would notice! :) I just wanted the crust and yummy gooey stuff. Heck with the cherries.

So I have come up with a list. Maybe I'm weird, maybe I'm being picky. Either way It is just interesting. . .

  • I like cherry pie, without the cherries
  • I like chili soup, but not the beans
  • I get the Philly Cheese steak sub, and pick out the peppers and onions
  • I smother my fries (and many other things) in ketchup, but dislike tomatoes
  • I love drinking hot chocolate (and choc milk), but really don't care for chocolate candy
  • I would go out of my way for the smell of good coffee, but dislike the taste
  • I'm a huge fan of Reeses Pieces, but could pass on the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups

Update: 11:20 pm. My husband just offered me a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. I said "no thanks". He made a pouty face. I said "you didn't read my blog today, did you?" "Nope". So I promptly loaded it up. As he came to the last bullet point, a little grin formed on his face, and he walked away shaking his head. :)

Office Max clearance and ink exchange...

I went to Office Max today in search for push pins. I found this great box of 250 colored push pins for $0.90 (reg $2.79) ! I also found a box of 20 jumbo push pins for $0.70 (reg $1.00)! In addition, they have an additional $20% off all clearance through February 2nd! With tax, I paid $1.37 for both boxes! What a deal! I was very temped by their other items on clearance, but really didn't need anything else, so I looked the other way! :)

I also noticed they have an 'Ink Exchange' program. For each used ink cartridge (only Lexmark and HP) brought in (up to 5 per purchase), they give you $3.00 off the total purchase. It seems the money can be used toward any purchase, that is same day, even clearance! I am pondering going back now...!

It's Almost Valentine's Day!?

Valentine's Day? I really must be a procrastinator. I'm thinking "It is still January!" It seems anymore, I'm almost indifferent to Valentine's Day. However this could be fun! Island Life is hosting a Valentine's Day swap, so head on over and sign up! Once you are signed up, make sure to fill out the questionnaire! :)

* What is your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day?

A nice dinner out . . . just spending time with my husband. Maybe a little gift, or flowers!

* In reality, what is your Valentine’s Day really like?
I do not remember a Valentine's Day not consumed by school. Now, in my last semester of graduate school, the day will be spent in classes, and then filled with homework. Takeout is a strong possibility.

* If you could have a lifetime supply of your favorite sweet indulgence, what would it be?
Reeses Pieces sound really great right now!

* Is there any sweet treat you absolutely do not like?
Black Licorice, or black jelly beans. Not really a fan of chocolate either.

* If you fell into a pool of chocolate, how would you get out?
Most likely I wouldn't. I can't swim, and dislike chocolate!

Today's thoughts. . .

I found myself singing in the car on the way home from work. It was a wonderful feeling. Work itself was slow, but I kept myself busy with small projects and chatting with others around the office.

I have found there are so many things I do not know about blogging. I have been doing a little "blog research", and it is a wonderful, but unknown world to me. There is blog etiquette, and an entire library of terms I must learn! I feel somewhat lost, but exhilarated. I want to indulge in it. Yet, I hesitate. I already am overwhelmed by school, and work; why should I add another thing? Will it become a chore? I love scrapbooking, reading, and music, but already rarely have time for these leisure activities. I guess. . . one day at a time. . .

Things I must do this weekend:
  • Email one of my best friends, K
  • Finish award application (due Feb 1)
  • Prep for classes (readings, questions, activities)
  • Write article for work newsletter
  • Pick up movies at library
  • Decide on study guides for comp exam
  • Upload photos thus far for photo 365 project!

My husband brought me a little gift this evening. :) The book "Before You Leap: A Frogs eye view of life's greatest lessons" by Kermit the Frog. It looks absolutely wonderful. I will let you know!

My husband and I went to Costco tonight. They had a few coupons for items we needed, or use frequently. Generally, I like shopping there. They do have a significant number of items at the bulk discount. However I also hesitate shopping there as apartment living doesn't provide a lot of extra space for us to stock pile stuff. Our laundry closet is over run with extra cleaners, soaps, and toiletries. We haven't purchase pasta noodles or popcorn kernels for a LONG time. This is great, except again, the storage issue.

Thank Goodness Tomorrow is Friday

It has just been one of those days where everything goes wrong, is overwhelming, or is just plain stupid. I'm VERY ready to be done with school. I feel one of my classes is pointless, and not serving the purpose of the class. I could be studying for my comprehensive exam, prepping for another class, or spending more time at my internship... napping, something more productive than the 1.5 hours each week I spend in that room!

I also am finding that I come home and want to go to bed. I don't have energy for homework, to watch tv, do laundry, dishes, make something to eat, or hang out with my husband. I feel bad. I really do want to do these things! I want to spend a relaxing evening with my husband, make dinner together, and watch a movie without worrying about the 300 pages I need to read for class tomorrow, or how I'm going to make time for studying for my comp exams!

I am hoping the weekend brings some relief, however am cautious to be too hopeful as I realize how much homework I have to do. . .

Long, cold day

Living in the midwest has its perks. I must say the cold is not one of them. I am all for winter sports. I enjoy skiing, sledding, and ice skating. However, there is no reason for it to be THIS cold!

I feel sluggish today. Other than the cold, I'm just tired. Left the house at 7:30 am, and didn't get home until 10 pm. I guess part of it was my own doing. I met a few friends for dinner to celebrate my birthday. It was nice, but maybe not such a good idea with so much going on this week. In addition to work, school and meetings, I just feel worn out. I think I'll save my homework until tomorrow. Most likely, this isn't a good idea, but it will have to work.

Between everything, I did some quick shopping. Shopko has basically all winter clothing on sale! I find this insane as at this moment, as it is -7 degrees, but I suppose, makes it a better deal for me! I got my husband 4 pairs of socks for $6 (reg over $6 for 2)and a fleece jacket for $15 (reg $50).

I am thinking with my photo 360 challenge, I'll make a separate photo blog, or something. Then I don't have to upload my photos each night. Instead I'll do a once per week upload. Look for that this weekend!

It's my birthday...

So it is official, I'm 25. The morning began perfectly... I slept in!

Things I did today:

* renewed my driver's license
* stopped at the bank
* went to the mall
* met my husband for dinner
* did homework
* answered emails

When my husband came home, he brought me beautiful flowers, an ice cream cake and gifts. We then went mini golfing! I had never tried it, and it sounded like fun. However, I was grateful there wasn't anyone else around watching. . . I am terrible at it!
After golfing, we went for dinner. Right away, I decided to go for the giant root beer float. It was fabulous!

Happy Birthday to ME!

I suppose I cannot put off turning 25 any longer. I cannot decide if I am excited about my birthday, or would rather pretend it is just another day. I think part of it is that I have so many things on my "To Do" list, and no time left in my planner. That could be why I am up after midnight... well, maybe I'm just playing on the internet and have no real excuse.

I don't have much planned. I took the day off work and school so I am able to sleep in. I have a few errands, and a few things for school I will need to get done. (Unfortunately, grad school doesn't allow me to use the "my dog ate my homework" bit, though I would love to see the look on my professors' face if I said it with a serious face).

My husband will be leaving work early so we can go out for dinner and spend the afternoon together. Honestly, it will be nice to just hang out and not have to be in a mad dash for a day.

Ironically enough, I have decided that turning 25 requires it's own "To Do" list. I suppose it is my new years resolutions coming a bit late. :)

Things to do before turning 26:

  • Start a blog
  • Take the 365 photo challenge (http://photojojo.com/content/tutorials/project-365-take-a-photo-a-day/)
  • Move out of my apartment
  • Find a Job
  • Finish my honeymoon scrapbook and start/finish another travel scrapbook
  • Watch less TV
  • Exercise more
  • Play the piano more
  • Save money

I'll start with that and see how it goes. Hey, I must say that I have a good start. "Start a blog" . . . check!! :)
