Have Junk - Carnival!!!

My husband and I have nearly perfected the "Oh Crap, we have company coming in 12 hours. Let's hide the junk."

We try to clean in advance, however there always seems to be a last minute rush to pick up the last of the laundry, or pile of clothes, dishes, or just the random stuff... the junk.

In moving/packing, we are really trying to not take junk with us. I have made a point to sort before putting things in boxes.

Here is a prime example.

One junk drawer:

Pens. Pencils. Tape. Highlighters. Whiteout. Crayons. Colored Pencils. Pencil sharpener. Random other items... A complete mess.

I shorted out a bunch of it. Then called husband over to pick out anything we "had" to have and I had missed.

I took a hilarious video with his picking through the drawer. His excitement was like a kid in a candy store.

Here is what we ended up with.


Not terrible I suppose, but more than I had wanted.


So I want to know: What does your junk drawer look like? What kind of junk is in the drawer? Is it similar to mine? Totally different? How long did it take to get like that? hehe... :) Please, do share!

A Change

Everything happens for a reason. Last night (well really early this morning) I was playing with my blog. I thought I had it all backed up and ready to go. I did not. Thus, is why what used to look like this:


Now does not.

However, my new look is growing on me. Sure it needs some work, but I think I like it.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Feeling overwhelmed and unispired

I have spent the last couple days dealing with spiders. It all started when I noticed one crawling on my ceiling. However one turned to six and I panicked. Apartment living dosen't allow me to do much other than squish the things and wipe down their webs. I would love to be able to wash the webs off the outside of my windows and maybe do a little spraying around the place, however I guess this forces me to look for less toxic solutions. In searching the internet, it seemed there were many opinions and ideas, however I ended up getting a few sticky traps (typically used for mice) to put in the middle of spider highway, and some orange pine sol to wipe down around the windows and where I find webs. I keep trying to tell myself they keep away all the other creepy crawlies, however I feel itchy and icky just thinking about it.

Do you have any certain way of ridding your living space of spiders?

My husband's grandparents are coming up tonight, and staying until Thursday. We are all going to Walking With Dinosaurs! I'm super excited, but have so much going on this week, I feel that I might not enjoy it like I should.

My sister's bridal shower is this weekend. I'm running around trying to prep for that. Plus, it is an 8 hour drive away, so it isn't like I can forget anything! In addition, I'm also going to hang out in my home town for it's centennial celebration! Yeah, maybe a little cheesy, especially for a town of 300, but it has potential.

I have gotten in one more application, and am working on another. I'm still nervous about not having a job, but haven't had a lot of time to think about it.

With all of the above I feel like I'm way behind in blogging. I know this isn't good. I should blog for myself, however I have a couple blog posts in the works that I really excited about and want to hit "publish" (such as the long awaited, much promised review of wii fit). Even more than feeling behind, I'm almost feeling uninspired. I have this daily stuff I write about, I complain a lot, and tend to favor the "this and that" posts, however I also want to make this meaningful, for myself and for anyone that happens to read this!

Now that we are settled I'll introduce myself! Around here, folks know me as Crazy Daisy. I have been married to the most wonderful man for almost 4 years now! I am in the final months of my Master's degree program, and searching for my dream job. Some of my hobbies include photography, paper crafts, volunteering, piano, and of course, blogging!

For an interesting view of me, I give you my profile:

I love taking naps. I love learning, but don't care for school.
I highly prefer Mac over PC.
I'm passionate, and hard-working, but often feel lazy.
I grew up in a town of 300 people.

I'm almost done with my master's degree.
Between HGTV, The Food Network, TLC, and Animal Planet, I could almost choose to just live on my couch.

Valentine's Day Treat!

For a special Valentine's Day treat, I had participated in a goody swap over at Island Life. I had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of a mystery package, and this weekend, my treats arrived!

There is so much we can do

In your blogging exploration, if you have not yet come across Rocks in My Dryer, now is a great time to check it out! Shannon is on a Compassion trip to Uganda blogging about her experiences and the situation within the villages. In this post, she writes of meeting the boy her family sponsors through Compassion.

I have been keeping up with her posts and am touched by those things that are being done. However this is so much more we can do. I encourage everyone, to find something they really believe in and then invest energy in supporting it. Support doesn't always have to be in funds. Often, time and effort can make the biggest difference.

The Big Bloggy Moving Day!

It was a long day. In addition to the regular class and work that loads down my Thursday, I also presented at a leadership conference tonight. Ugh. It was a great experience, and I enjoyed doing it, but I am tired!

This weekend, I look forward to catching up on reading blogs and adding several posts to mine! Have a great Friday!

Today's thoughts. . .

I found myself singing in the car on the way home from work. It was a wonderful feeling. Work itself was slow, but I kept myself busy with small projects and chatting with others around the office.

I have found there are so many things I do not know about blogging. I have been doing a little "blog research", and it is a wonderful, but unknown world to me. There is blog etiquette, and an entire library of terms I must learn! I feel somewhat lost, but exhilarated. I want to indulge in it. Yet, I hesitate. I already am overwhelmed by school, and work; why should I add another thing? Will it become a chore? I love scrapbooking, reading, and music, but already rarely have time for these leisure activities. I guess. . . one day at a time. . .

Things I must do this weekend:

• Email one of my best friends, K
• Finish award application (due Feb 1)
• Prep for classes (readings, questions, activities)
• Write article for work newsletter
• Pick up movies at library
• Decide on study guides for comp exam
• Upload photos thus far for photo 365 project!

My husband brought me a little gift this evening. :) The book "Before You Leap: A Frogs eye view of life's greatest lessons" by Kermit the Frog. It looks absolutely wonderful. I will let you know!

My husband and I went to Costco tonight. They had a few coupons for items we needed, or use frequently. Generally, I like shopping there. They do have a significant number of items at the bulk discount. However I also hesitate shopping there as apartment living doesn't provide a lot of extra space for us to stock pile stuff. Our laundry closet is over run with extra cleaners, soaps, and toiletries. We haven't purchase pasta noodles or popcorn kernels for a LONG time. This is great, except again, the storage issue.
