Jaffery - Part Two: ... and Giveaway(GIVEAWAY ENDED)!

Jaffery - Part Two: 


After leaving Petco, Jaffery and I made our way to PetSmart to pick up a few supplies (puppy food, pillow, etc). He sat very nicely in the back of the car. I wasn't sure if he was nervous, or possibly didn't like car rides. Jaffery was so well behaved at Pet Smart. He was so excited to be exploring! He climbed both under and in the shelves!


We met Dakota and Alan at home a bit later. With Jaffery and Dakota getting along right away, we didn't have too many concerns about them once we arrived home. Jaffery and Dakota had a grand old time running and playing in the back yard while Alan and I picked up branches. 

After an afternoon of playing in the back yard and a bit of relax time, we went for our evening walk. Today, we went to the lake to let the puppies sniff the lake smells and also tried to grab a quick family photo. It was wonderful walking with them. Dakota kept looking over or back to see if Jaffery was still there. Jaffery was so excited to be out exploring, playing and goofing off with Dakota.

One Small Step Toward Journaling Success

I am really bad at journaling on my scrapbook pages. I always leave a very intentional spot for it, however I have a "what if I spell something wrong, and my handwriting stinks, and I do not know what to say" issue.

I am really trying to change my ways and after finding a fabulous deal on a 12 pack of Sharpies this weekend, I was inspired to get a page done, just so I could write on it!

Isn't Jaffery adorable? 

It is fairly simple page. I had the "Hear Me Roar" stickers from Die Cuts With A View for quite some time. I actually purchased them with a page for Jaffery in mind. I dug out some scrap paper, a couple random brads, and found a cute puppy journaling block.



I glued things down and realized something more was needed. I then made this:

As the final step, I journaled with my new brown ultra fine point Sharpie marker.

It isn't perfect, however it doesn't matter. I'm starting to believe it is the story that matters, not how well written it is.

In honor of my one small stop toward journaling success, I would like to pass along a few Sharpies into the world, encouraging others to journal their stories.

Dream. Be Inspired. Create. Challenge Two

Not sure what is going on, check this out first!

New and want to check out Day One?

One thing I love doing, is using something average, and making it a work of art!

This could be anything from

- - - glitter, paper, and lettering to make a fun grad card

Colored paper cut into circles to make a globe - - -

- - - or even a few small brown lunch bags to make a welcome to the neighborhood album!


One item I really love using to create magic, and haven't written about, is frames!
Yup. Ordinary photo frames.

Here is why I L.O.V.E. them:

ONE: they are cheap! Watch for clearance, thrift stores, garage sales... you might not need the glass in the frame (watch for clearance at Michaels), or can tear out that interested 70's art from that beautiful wood frame at the thrift store!

TWO: They do not always need to be in perfect shape!

THREE: They can be used for SO many projects!


Take this frame, for example!


Pretty typical 8x10 frame. I could print a photo and let it sit in this frame and things would be just fine. However a few ideas instead...







You could also...

• use a rub on word over a photo, OR on the frame or glass!
• Put your favorite kitchen themed paper in it and hang in your food prep area
• Find a cork mat and use the frame to make a cord board
• Use vinyl lettering on your wall and frame

Here are a couple other frame projects I have done.

Last week, I was SO good about posting! My weekend Flair, front yard, shoes, silly faces, and a silly puppy!

This week I have been SO busy at work AND at home!

At work:

• Students are back! Well officially classes start next week, however I have had student orientation, registration, and many meetings this week!
• Paper work. Nuff said
• Staff and faculty meetings
• Drama, yeah. ISH!

At Home:

• Cleaning
• Cleaning
• Cleaning

Why? Well, we are doing a little home renovation :) Fairly minimal in the overall scheme of things, but BIG in my world! Let's just say I LOVE and completely APPRECIATE that my Husband understands my crafty love! :-)

Though I was quite content with my updates here... we are doing more!

Where has the summer gone?

I have been so busy with weddings, showers, conference planning and job hunting I have nearly forgotten to enjoy my summer 'off'. Huh. Summer off, yeah right. It seems like regardless of my employment status, I have put in at least 40 hours a week all summer (maybe even overtime)!

This last weekend I was at a cousin's wedding.




Monday I spent the day with my bff K for her birthday! We had lunch at Dave and Buster's and then drove to Stillwater to walk through the cute shops and go on the trolley tour. The tour was full, so instead of basking in the sun on a trolley full of hot sweaty people, we hunted out some ice cream. We had ice cream and french fries... It turned out to be perfect!




Monday night I applied for another job! This one required me to create a username and password and entire application on their site. I had to retype all my resume into their forms. Plus they asked for way more information than I was prepared for! I was so nervous about hitting "submit".

Today I spent the day organizing conference materials and then going to a prep meeting. Honestly, I am so ready for this conference to be over. However I do enjoy meeting at Caribou Coffee. It gives the the excuse I need to have one of these! Yes, even when it is 90 degrees outside...

On my way home from the meeting, I stopped at Costco to pick up a pizza for our monthly anniversary! :-) A 16 inch pizza, already cooked pizza for $9.95. Yummy! However they only take cash or checks at the food counter and of course neither of which was in my bag, SO I went to the food section and just grabbed one to cook at home. Same pizza, uncooked, but cost $9.99. What... back up. Strange. Plus, they take debit at the regular check outs, just not the food court. Whatever!

So Husband and I celebrated our July 08 anniversary with costco pizza and tv. We are getting a little not so creative with these monthly deals. Hmm. (Honey,we need to work on that!). It is getting somewhat repetitive of eating out and tv watching.

Tomorrow, I have another conference meeting (as I do all day on Friday as well!). Ugh.

Plus! There is the Bloggy giveaways going on. These are always so much fun however I'm saddened by the fact that I have been only able to visit a couple other participant blogs with all the craziness going on! Hopefully I'll have a few down moments between now and Friday!

Then next week, I'm hoping to get back on a regular posting schedule! I had been doing so well...
